Mavis Robe Collection
Handcrafted by local artisans, our Turkish textiles ethically and sustainably- made in small batches with pride and designed to only get better with use.
Multifunctional and quick drying, it can easily be packed into a summer bag and taken to the beach, worn as a duster coat over jeans, or a cover-up over lingerie or after a bath. Great to throw on in the morning while enjoying your cup of coffee and whipping up breakfast.
An Oddbird staple, the ‘Mavis’ weave, featuring its turquoise and charcoal stripes perfectly paired with a burlap color base, is a refreshing and mature addition to any self-care routine or outfit.
The smell of mold was overwhelming when I first got the robes. I had to wash them about three times before the scent went away. The fabric is lovely.
Im so glad you love our fabrications! They are all handwoven on 100-year old shuttle looms by trained artisans who are keeping the textile tradition of Turkiye alive and designed to be heirloom pieces for you to cherish! I believe we spoke about the smell you had noticed and offered to replace your items. All of our pieces are washed in traditional turkish soap right off the looms to remove allergens and then go through 3 quality control points before leaving our hands. We are actually known for how beautiful our garments smell right out of the box and would NEVER allow a customer to receive an item that was not up to our uniquely high standards. That being said, we would not allow a product with a smell as distinctly sharp as mold to ever reach a customer and im sorry thats what you felt that it smelled like. Im glad that after a wash the smell that bothered you dissipated, but please know in the future that we would have replaced your items!
The Mavis robe is my uniform. I put it on in the morning in the morning and where it all day until I leave my house. It's light weight and loosely woven making it perfect for warm weather. It is terrific for wicking moisture from my skin. This robe is a real multi-tasker... while having a fever it kept me warm through the shiver stage and also kept me dry and comfortable when my fever broke. Beautiful crepe like texture to fabric with French seaming. As with any linen rich product from OddBird, it is meant to be loved. The more you wear it the nicer it becomes.
Returned robe due to size issues. Unable to close around waist despite a normally comfortable medium sized person.

As someone who consistently runs hot, it can be hard to find luxurious clothing items that actually provide consistent comfort. This robe is one of them.
The linen-cotton weave is gorgeously lightweight and soft, and incredibly breathable. It's a wonderful single layer when I'm a little chilled, and stays comfortable and cool when things warm up.
Regardless, it breathes and doesn't absorb sweat, so it doesn't get funky the way I've had cheaper synthetic robes do in the past. And while the out-of-the-box texture is a little coarse (in the nice kind of way good terrycloth robes are), it softens amazingly after the first wash.
As other reviewers mentioned, it can be hard to tell from Oddbird's pictures what the actual colors are, but, as described in the details section, the primary stripes are dark grey, while the secondary stripes are that, plus vivid almost-sky-blue edging, all on top of an oatmeal natural base.
I think I would like it if Oddbird showed at least some color-calibrated photos that were just a close-up swatch of fabric under natural daylight-balanced light (in my opinion there's only one product photo here that accurately captures the color combination on this fabric), but the lack of that doesn't stop me from loving the pattern of this robe and thinking I made the right choice.
Sizing: I'm 5'11" and 200lb, with a moderate bust, and the M/L fits very well for me, even after a bit of shrinkage from the first wash and being hung to air dry.
He wears it all the time. It may be his favorite article of clothing.
