Description

Handcrafted by local artisans, our Turkish textiles ethically and sustainably- made in small batches with pride and designed to only get better with use.

The Zeytin has been founder, Ceren Lee's favorite textile since its introduction to the collection in 2016 and after years of perfecting its weave we are thrilled to add it to our catalogue of sustainably-made robes.

With its gorgeous subtle coloring with crimson, slate grey, and charcoal accent stripes, this textile is perfect as an addition to any outfit or decor. The porous yet dense weave of this cotton/linen blend piece gives shape to the beautiful hand and drape of the textile.

Pretty robe with tough sizing

The robe is gorgeous but I’ve had to return it twice because the sizing goes from really big to small within one size. I think I’m gonna order it the third time and go for the bigger size, but different items in the store have different sizing.

Hi there Christine,

Thank you so much for reaching out to us with this feedback! We're sorry to hear that you had this trouble with sizing your new Oddbird robe. We offer these pieces in the sizes we do to cover a range of body types with each piece, thereby minimizing units produced within each batch.

Of course, we totally understand how this may sometimes make sizing our pieces a bit difficult and we do apologize for this inconvenience! As a note for future reference, we generally recommend leaving a bit of room in your robes so that you can launder your piece a bit more freely as handwoven items tend to draw in a bit during the drying process.

As we'd hate for you to be inconvenienced by the back and forth, we'd love to go ahead and waive the return shipping fee on your open return with us as a thank you for your continued support of our small business! A member of our service team will be reaching out to you shortly to arrange this.

We're so grateful to have you as a member of our Oddbird family and look forward to the opportunity to serve you again in the future!✨

I am in LOVE!

The Zeytin robe was my first purchase from Odd Bird a little over a year ago. I loved it from the moment I opened the box and after a year of laundering it has held up beautifully and has softened so much it just feels like home.

OK - not as expected

First - colour. Look at the photos of the towels - they show the actual colour, the pics of the robes do not.

Second - fabric. To be fair the comparison I had was my friends cotton robe. comparatively this is thin, rough and feels like you need to wash it a few times to soften it up. I love soft linen, this is not that. I think you could wash this a few times to make it soft and cozy - but you would need to size up as the weave is loose & it will likely shrink.

I returned. I will buy a cotton one like my friends, it's gorgeous, soft & cozy.

Hi there!

Thank you so much for reaching out to us with this helpful feedback! We’re sorry that you have found our Zeytin robe to be rough to the touch.

All of our textiles are woven from high quality unprocessed cottons and linens and therefore require a small period of ‘breaking in’ to reveal their true softness, as well as increase their absorbency. We opt to use these unprocessed fibers, as they increase the lifespan of the textile and ensure that the garment can and will serve you well for decades.

This ‘breaking in’ process requires a nice soak (for optimal results, include a natural fabric softener) for 4-6 hours followed with a wash and dry cycle. This soaking process allows for the threads to fully hydrate and plump and in turn, increases the absorbency of the towel. Usually this ‘breaking in’ process will take about 4-5 washes until it releases its true texture and hand. Once the initial ‘breaking in’ is complete, the towels will get better and better with time and use and will continually increase in both softness and absorbency. You can find these care instructions available on the product care section of our website.

Many Turkish towels available on the market nowadays are factory made using processed fibers, and even including polyester to obtain a luxury drape and initial softness from the get go. However, these factory-made towels tend to last for a fraction of the amount of time our towels.

We hope that this was informative and helped relieve some of your disappointment.

Additionally, if you would like to try some of our other towels, I would love to recommend a few that have a lovely initial softness that gets even better after being broken in. Our Dalga towel, Redline, and Damat fabrications are incredibly soft and are some of our very best sellers!

If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to reach out to our service team at customerservice@oddbirdco.com, we are always happy to help!
